Scholarship + Teaching

Kathryn’s research interests include religious communities in the Eastern Bloc, post-1945 East and Southeast Asia, gender history, queer Catholicism, memory cultures, and histories of death and dying. Her research has been supported by the Fulbright Program, Central European Historical Society, DAAD, and the German Historical Institute.

As an instructor and professor of history, Kathryn has taught a wide range of courses, including Film & Memory, Supernatural Europe, Coffeehouses & Culture, Death on Display, Dark Tourism, and the Rise of Autocracies. Below you can find some of her past syllabi.
